Comics

Yes, it's not enough that I write as much as I do. I also have to draw.

It started back in college, when I was the editorial cartoonist at the American University Eagle for two years. (I'm currently digging through my archives to scan some of those old cartoons, so stay tuned for some hopefully not unbearable images.)

After that, I wrote several comic books for a handful of publishers, all but one of which went out of business before publishing the books I scripted. Oh well. I got to attend several conventions and even sit next to Dan Brown at one before he hit it really big.

Then I started drawing my own cartoons, some of which I submitted around, most of which I put online at my own webcomic, Plattitudes, which is just starting again after a year's hiatus.

Most recently I've been writing and drawing mini-comics, including the super-popular My Beard in Alternate Dimensions. (I guess I should have a link for you to order these Platt-filled publications, right? I'll get on that.)

Oh yeah, I'm also working on a few new scripts, which may turn into short stories or even graphic novels in the near future.

Beyond that, I also frequently write about comic books and cartoonists. For example, check out my article "Fifth Annual Wonder Woman Day to Help Victims of Domestic Violence" at Tonic.com or my book reviews at Graphic Novel Reporter. I am also a contributing editor covering all things comics for the forthcoming Encyclopedia of Science Fiction.

I'll have more links and images for you soon, but until then, check out the Platt Arts blog for some cartoony goodness.
